Opened in 1923 with 100 rooms, a grand lobby, ballroom, barber shop, billiard room, clothing store, coffee shop, bar, and dining room. It was written up in a February 1926 article in Architectural Forum magazine, which said a %u201cwell designed balustrade crowns the cornice of the two first stories.%u201d Investors wanted it erected on a corner lot, so hydraulic jacks were used to move an existing building out of the way. Fire damage resulted in the building being demolished by a 3-ton wrecking ball on January 12, 1994.
