Opened in 1902 by Maranda J. and Obediah France as the M.J. France Hotel. Rebuilt and renamed the Yellow Banks Hotel in 1905. It had rowboats, painted yellow, that were stored upside-down along the lake in front of the hotel, hence the name Yellow Banks. Either John Dillinger or Al Capone was a guest, depending on the source. It briefly housed an Italian restaurant called Novelli%u2019s before being demolished in 1979.
