Built by H. B. Gentry as the Gentry Hotel with 53 guest rooms at a cost of $34,000. Its Grand Opening was on January 21, 1895. By at least 1906 it was the Hotel Bowles, which was expanded in 1911 at a cost of $25,000. In 1928, one-third was razed to make room for the new Graham Hotel. The rest was demolished later.Indiana University%u2019s Memorial Union was dedicated on June 13, 1932 to %u201cthe sons and daughters of Indiana University who had served in the wars of the Republic.%u201d The Biddle Hotel and Conference Center was added in 1960 with 189 guest rooms. It underwent an $8-million renovation in 2017.
