Opened in 1951 with 42 rooms by Thomas E. Spackman to replace an earlier structure. Tom was the son of Earl Spackman, who founded Ideal Beach in 1926. The commercial park%u2019s name was changed to Indiana Beach in 1952.Built on the site of the Wawasee Inn Cedar Beach Club in 1925 by the same E.G. Spink Co. that built the Spink Arms Hotel in Indianapolis. In 1948 it was sold to the Crosier Order of the Roman Catholic Church, and remodeled into Our Lady of the Lake Seminary. In 1965 the seminary became Wawasee Preparatory, a coeducational school, which closed in 1975. The structure is now luxury condominiums.
