This building also housed the #191 International Order of Oddfellows Lodge, which had a sign high above the entrance. A 1909 advertisement in the Henry County Directory said the hotel%u2019s proprietor was Mary Mallory, it offered steam heat, and was just across the road from the interurban station for the Terre Haute, Indianapolis, & Eastern line.Designed by noted Chicago architect Jarvis Hunt, and built by Owen F. Aldis in 1903. The hotel was known as the Atlantic City of the West at a time when steamships made twice-daily stops nearby. The hotel anchored Indiana Harbor%u2019s first elite middle-class neighborhood, yet was within sight of Inland Steel%u2019s blast furnace.
