Artvue Post Card Co., 225 Fifth Ave., New York, N.Y.Rev. Bias was a native of New York city who first came to Camp Chesterfield in the late 1930s, and was a regular performer on the grounds after 1940. He served as President of the camp for a number of years, and was later President of the Maple Grove Spiritualist Camp near Pendleton. His book Trumpet Mediumship, was a best seller among followers of Spiritualism. The December 5, 1945 issue of the Cincinnati Enquirer quoted him as saying, %u201cWe have to be very careful not to get any quacks on our staff. After all, impostors have done more harm to Spiritualism than we could ever do to rebuild. Consequently, all the people on our staff are time-tested by the testing board prior to their being hired on the staff.%u201d In 1956, Bias founded the Universal Spiritualist Association to issue credentials for the Camp Chesterfield Seminary. He also founded the Ancient Mystical Order of Seekers as a society for the clergy and more serious lay students. He passed into spirit in 1986.
