Unknown publisher, but likely Camp ChesterfieldFranchion Harwood was a cousin of mediums Mable Riffle and Ethel Post Parrish, and the daughter of William and Anna Dennis. William was President of the Indiana Association of Spiritualists. Franchion practiced materialization mediumship for 25 years, and was the pastor of the First Spiritualist Temple in Anderson. Along with several other Camp Chesterfield mediums, she was the subject of a book titled Adventures in Survival, which was published in the late 1940s. She lived in a substantial brick cottage at Camp Chesterfield, was married to a Mr. Dorsch, and passed into spirit on March 15, 1966 at the age of 70. Rev. Harwood said that besides materialization, there was also, %u201cetherealization, transfiguration, and impersonation. These are all genuine phases of mediumship.%u201d If somebody grabbed her ectoplasm during a seance, and didn%u2019t find a spirit, Fanchion would say that a spirit tricked her, which generally got her off the hook%u2014at least in eyes of true believers. The National Spiritualist magazine, once said of her, %u201cThis lady was just one of the greats.%u201d
