Schulz served as Pastor of Philadelphia%u2019s First Association of Spiritualists in the 1930s and %u201840s, and performed at Camp Chesterfield in the 1950s. She was known for billet reading, or the ability to read messages on folded pieces of paper or inside sealed envelopes. Her conversion to Spiritualism came when she attended a s%u00e9ance by well known medium Mary Murphy Lydy, in which her dead father spoke in Danish. Her mother, being a Catholic, thought Mamie was making a huge mistake in becoming a medium. But she later became convinced of her daughter%u2019s calling, and loved to listen to Mamie speak at Camp Chesterfield.
