The Finest American Made View Post Cards. %u2022 The Albertype Co., Brooklyn, N.Y.Edith Stillwell, one of the truly great mediums of Camp Chesterfield, was known for her multiple-spirit manifestations. In 1960, she became a victim of her own hubris when a pair of psychic researchers wanted to obtain the first motion pictures of materialized spirits%u2014using infrared film. One of them, Tom O%u2019Neill, was a staunch believer in Spiritualism, editor of the pro-Spiritualist Psychic Observer,and an ordained Spiritualist minister. To give his project scientific credibility, he recruited Dr. Andrija Puharich to help. They told Edith beforehand that infrared film could reveal any figures in total darkness. After she gave her approval, they captured on film the familiar faces of Camp Chesterfield mediums, dressed up in gauze, impersonating departed spirits. O%u2019Neill was totally devastated by the revelation, and raged against %u201cthe frauds, fakes, and fantasies of the Chesterfield Spiritualist Camp!%u201d In its July 10, 1960 issue, the Psychic Observer ran an article headlined %u201cWe Are In Mourning, The Tragic Deceptions in Materialization.%u201d
