Built in 1921 by George Roberts, a Jew, who fled Russia in the late 1890s to avoid being drafted into the Czar%u2019s army. After losing everything in the Great Depression, Roberts entered the oil business, where he died of a heart attack in an oil-field tent in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The hotel was closed in 1972, but reopened in 1976. It is now The Lofts at Roberts apartments.
