                                    In the 1860s, William McEwen built the McEwen Block in Columbus. George Bissell bought the block in 1875 and opened his Bissell Hotel with 60 well-ventilated rooms. John Crump purchased and reconstructed the building in 1891 as the Belvedere Hotel. It was destroyed by fire in 1967. An office complex is now on the site.Built with 60 rooms in 1875 by Columbus contractor Patrick McCormack. The building suffered a fire in 1895 and was rebuilt. In its later years, it offered permanent residences for many guests. The hotel closed in 1964, but the building still serves a variety of purposes.
