                                    The Broadway was built in 1908, and burned down in 1952. To much fanfare, a Holiday Inn was built on the site and opened on December 2, 1968. It closed in 1972, after only four years of operation. Charles Barnette, Holiday Inn%u2019s Director of Public Relations, said %u201cThis location just does not draw people. I don%u2019t know why.%u201dErected in 1908 by the Brennan syndicate at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Washington Street. Named after Captain H.S. Norton, who was manager of the Gary Land Company.
