Lowry was a Virginia artist/illustrator who studied at the New York Art Student%u2019s League and was a designing artist for the Everett Waddey Company, a Richmond printing house. Besides cachets, he created Red Cross posters, poster stamps, postage stamp designs, and watercolor paintings.Hobart Emil Schacht produced cachets between 1948 and 1957. Besides the Schacht name, he made covers under other names, such as HS Colortint, and HS Colorama. He lived in Huntington, IN, was born in 1903, and died at age 85, in 1989. His daughter hand-colored some of his cachets.
