Buchannan was a pioneer cachet maker. His produced his first for the 1927 Vermont Sesquicentennial stamp, and his last in 1960. Many of his cachets were general purpose, and not specific to a particular stamp. Here, the fire-cracker border relates to the stamp%u2019s July 4th first-day-of-issue.Elliott was an early cachet maker who began producing them in 1929, and was very active in the 1930s. This simple design was created late in his career, and is backstamped Richmond, CA on July 10, 1950.
