Built in 1875 with 100 rooms. After 1899, the hotel was extensively remodeled and rebuilt to have 70 elegant sleeping rooms. Afterward, it was often referred to as the %u201cnew%u201d Grand Hotel. It was extensively remodeled again in 1936. By the 1950s the hotel was in decline, and was razed in 1964.Opened in 1884 by Elijah Hays with 44 rooms. Ten years later, three men were killed while making repairs at the bottom of the elevator shaft when the cage broke loose and fell on them. In 1895, Revra DePuy founded the first commercial orthopaedics manufacturing company in the world in the hotel to make improved splints for broken limbs. The company still operates in Warsaw. The hotel was razed in 1959.
