Built in 1913 with 125 rooms as a part of Frank G. Warden%u2019s Warden Hotels chain, which also included the Metropole in Chicago and the Delaware in Muncie. On February 10, 1923 the Richmond Palladium reported that %u201cReckless%u201d Ruben, the original Human Fly, would climb the Westcott Hotel the next Wednesday morning%u2014but there is no record that he actually performed the feat. Ruben said he had been practicing human-fly stunts for 10 years.
