This cover was flown on one of the 1972 development flights of the Royal Aeronautical Society%u2019s pedal-powered Jupiter aircraft. The plane was produced by the society%u2019s Man Powered Flight Group, which was originally founded in 1959. Its name was changed in 1988 to the Human Powered Flight Group because a number of its successful pilots were female. The Jupiter only flew in a straight line, thus it could not claim the Kremer Prize (later administered by the Royal Aeronautical Society), which required flying a figure-eight course.
