Great Britain has had at least six ships named Jupiter. This one was a Majestic-class pre-dreadnought battleship. It had a displacement of 16,320 tons, a length of 421 ft., a beam of 75 ft., and was powered by a pair of 3-cylinder triple-expansion steam engines and twin screws.Her keel was laid on April 26, 1894 by J & G Thomson of Clydebank, launched on November 18 of that same year, but wasn%u2019t completed until May of 1897. She was commissioned by the Royal Navy on June 8, 1897, decommissioned in February 1918, and sold for scrap on January 15, 1920.As depicted in the 1902 edition of Brassey's Naval Annual.
