January 19, 2012, Monroe County History Center, Bloomington, IN.

John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his Indiana photography books at the Monroe County History Center on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 7 pm. The title of John's presentation will be "Capturing the Soul of Indiana--A celebration of our overlooked cultural heritage," and will be a part of the History Center's Third Thursday Program series. John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his work at the Vermillion County Public Library in Newport, Indiana at 2:00 pm on Saturday January 28, 2012. The title of his presentation will be "Capturing the Soul of Indiana--A celebration of our overlooked cultural heritage" and it will feature black-and-white images from all 7 of his Indiana photography books. February 2, 2012, South Whitley/Cleveland Township Public Library, South Whitley, IN

John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his work at the South Whitley/Cleveland Township Public Library in South Whitley, IN on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 6:30 PM. The title of his presentation will be "The Common Good: An Indiana Heritage built with taxes, tithes, and tuition," and it will cover John's most recent Indiana photography book of the same title. February 17-19, 2012, Indiana Art Fair, Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis, IN

John Bower will be participating in the 9th Annual Indiana Art Fair at the Indiana State Museum. He will be visiting with the public and offering his Indiana photographs and Indiana photography books for sale at a discount. The Museum is located at 650 W. Washington St. in Indianapolis. Hours for the Art Fair are Friday (February 17, 2012) from 6 pm to 8:30 pm, Saturday (February 18, 2012) from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday (February 19, 2012) from 11 am to 5 pm.

March 26, 2012, Landmarks of Fountain County, Attica, IN

John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his Indiana photography books entitled "Capturing the Soul of Indiana--A celebration of our overlooked cultural heritage" for Landmarks of Fountain County, in Attica, Indiana on March 26, 2012. The presentation will be held at 7:00 pm in the c.1850 Old Church, which is located at 360 Main Street. The Old Church is the centerpiece of Attica's historic John Cottrell Village. This event is free and open to the public, and there will be a book sale and signing afterward.

March 31, April 1, 2012, Indiana Artisan Marketplace, Indianapolis, IN

John Bower will be offering his books and photographs for sale, and will be meeting with the public, at the second annual Indiana Artisan Marketplace on Saturday, March 31, 2012 and Sunday, April 1, 2012. This exclusive event will be held in the Expo Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, and there are expected to be over 200 premier exhibitors. In addition to browsing the booths, visitors again will enjoy Indiana music, live art and craft demonstration  and food and drink tasting. Hours on Saturday will be 10 am to 6 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. There is an $10 admission charge, and children 15 and under will be admitted at no charge. The Fairgrounds has a $3 parking fee. Note: On March 30, 2012, there will be a “Trade” show day of the Marketplace, which will be open to wholesale buyers only, not the general public.

April 10, 2012, Anderson Public Library, Anderson, IN

As a part of National Library Week, John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his Indiana photography books at the Anderson Public Library onTuesday, April 10, 2012 at 6:00 pm. His presentation will be titled "Capturing the Soul of Indiana--A celebration of our overlooked cultural heritage," and there will be a book sale and signing afterward. April 14, 2012, Alexandria-Monroe Public Library, Alexandria, IN

As a part of National Library Week, John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his Indiana photography at the Alexandria-Monroe Public Library on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm. The title of his presentation will be "Silent Workplace: Stores, shops, businesses, and factories where Hoosiers once earned a living," and it will cover his Indiana photography book of the same title. April 27, 2012 to May 20, 2012, Bear's Mill Art Gallery, Greenville, OH

John Bower will have a solo exhibition of his black-and-white photography at the Bear's Mill Art Gallery, In Greenville OH, from April 27, 2012 to May 20, 2012. There will be an artist reception on April 27, 2012 from 6 pm to 9 pm, and John will be giving a PowerPoint Presentation about his photography during the reception, from 7 pm to 8 pm. Bear's Mill is an operating 1849 water-powered mill and historical landmark, with a beautiful first-class Art Gallery and Mill Store. It is located at 6450 Arcanum-Bear's Mill Rd, which is 5 miles east of Greenville, OH, and just a quarter mile south of US 36. Hours are Tuesday thru Friday from 11 am to 5 pm, Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm, closed Mondays. Admission is free. May 7, 2012, Antiquarian Society of St. Joseph County, South Bend, IN

John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his Indiana photography books entitled "Capturing the Soul of Indiana--A celebration of our overlooked cultural heritage" for the Antiquarian Society of St. Joseph County at its annual spring luncheon in South Bend, Indiana on May 7, 2012. The presentation will be held at the Morris Inn, which is at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend. There will also be a book sale and signing afterward.

May 10, 2012, Indiana Library Federation, District 5/7 Annual Conference, Bloomington, IN

John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his Indiana photography books entitled "Capturing the Soul of Indiana--A celebration of our overlooked cultural heritage" at the District 5 & 7 Annual Conference of the Indiana Library Federation. The Conference will be held on May 10, 2012 at the Black Cultural Center on Bloomington's Indiana University Campus, and John's presentation will be at 11:30 am in theGrand Hall of the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center. There will be a book sale and signing afterward.

May 15, 2012, Knox Co. Public Library, and the Vincennes/Knox Preservation Foundation (at the Fortnightly Building), Vincennes, IN

In conjunction with National Preservation Month, John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his Indiana photography on Tuesday, May 15th, 2012 at 6:30 pm. This event is being cosponsored by the Knox Co. Public Library. and the Vincennes/Knox Preservation Foundation, and it will be held in the historic Fortnightly Building, which is located at 421 N. Sixth St. in Vincennes. John' presentation will be titled "2nd Stories: A Hoosier photographer explores what's upstairs, on top, and overhead" and will focus on buildings and objects that you must look up to see. May 18 to September 24, 2012, Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, Lafayette, IN

John Bower will have two of his photographs in the "Above the Chair Rail" exhibit ay the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette from May 18 until September 24, 2012. This exhibit is a part of the museum's 2012 "Chair-ity Event" in which artists transform a chair into a work of art. September 22, 2012, Delphi Public Library, Delphi, IN

John Bower will be visiting with the public, and signing his seven photography books, at the third annual "Celebrate the Arts" art festival in Delphi on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Artists will be set up around the courthouse square, as well in various businesses around town, and John will be located in the Delphi Public Library, where he will be giving readings from the text in his books at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm. The Festival runs from 10 am to 4 pm and will include, along with the artists, food vendors, musical entertainment, and demonstrations. September 26, 2012, Marquette Retirement Community, Indianapolis, IN

John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation at the Marquette Retirement Community in Indianapolis, IN on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 7:00 pm. The title of his presentation will be "Lingering Spirit: A photographic tribute to Indiana's fading, forlorn, and forgotten places" and it will feature black-and-white images from John's first Indiana photography book. September 29, 2012, Indianapolis Central Library, Indianapolis, IN

John Bower will be visiting with the public, and signing his seven photography books at the Annual 2012 Indy Author Fair at the Central Library in Indianapolis. The Author Fair will be on Saturday September 29, 2012 and will run from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, with the "meet the authors program" running from Noon to 2:00 pm. Besides the Author Fair, the library will be offering a variety of Workshops for writers and authors, and will be hosting the Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award.

John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation at the Pendleton Community Library in Pendleton, IN on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm. The title of his presentation will be "Capturing the Soul of Indiana--A celebration of our overlooked cultural heritage" and it will feature black-and-white images from all 7 of his Indiana photography books. October 13, 2012, Hoosier History Live radio program, Indianapolis, IN

John Bower will be discussing his Indiana photography and his books on Hoosier History Live with host Nelson Price on Saturday Saturday, October 13, 2012 between 12 noon and 1 pm. Hoosier History Live is a weekly radio adventure through Indiana history which airs live at 12 noon each Saturday on WICR 88.7 FM at the University of Indianapolis station. Indiana History Live is the nation's only live call-in radio program about history, so listen in and give John and Nelson a call with your questions and comments. You can also listed on-line, via the station's website http://www.wicronline.org/audio/.

October 24, 2012, Marquette Retirement Community, Indianapolis, IN

John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation at the Marquette Retirement Community in Indianapolis, IN on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 7:00 pm. The title of his presentation will be Guardians of the Soul: Angels and innocents, mourners and saints, Indiana's remarkable cemetery sculpture" and it will feature black-and-white images from John's second Indiana photography book. November 2012 to February 2013, Lubeznik Center for the Arts, Michigan City, IN

John Bower will have a solo exhibition, in the the Brincka/Cross and Robert Saxton Galleries, at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, from November 30, 2012 until February 24, 2013. John’s exhibit will be titled “The Common Good,” and it will feature black-and-white photographs from his 7th Indiana photography book. There will be a reception on December 7, 2012, from 5 to 8 pm, at which John will be available to discuss his work. The museum's hours are Monday thru Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday from 2 pm to 7 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
