John Bower will have a solo exhibition featuring his black-and-white photographs in the Jeffrey R. Krull Gallery at the Allen County Public Library from January 12 through February 26, 2010. The exhibit is titled "Capturing the Soul of Indiana, The documentary photography of John Bower." John Bower will have a solo exhibition featuring his black-and-white photographs of cemetery statuary from his book, Guardians of the Soul, at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures from January 26, 2010 until June 13, 2010. The museum's hours are Tuesday thru Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm to 4:30 pm. The museum is closed on Mondays, major holidays and during Indiana University semester breaks. The Mathers Museum is located at 416 North Indiana Ave. in Bloomington. John Bower will be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his photographs of cemetery statuary at 1:30 pm at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures in Bloomington on Sunday, February 7, 2010, which will be in conjunction with the above exhibition. May-December, 2010, “Landmarks through the Viewfinder" Southern Indiana Traveling Exhibition

John Bower will have four photographs in the “Landmarks through the Viewfinder” exhibition which will be traveling through southern Indiana, to nine different venues, during the second half of 2010. This juried exhibition will contain 30 Indiana photographs by a number of Indiana photographers, and is sponsored by Indiana Landmarks (formerly the Historic Landmarks Foundation) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding. The schedule below shows tentative set-up and take-down dates, and tentative dates for the three receptions, so please contact the venues to determine exact dates and times.

November 27, 2010, Annual Holiday Bazaar, Southport, IN

John Bower will be visiting with the public, signing his Indiana photography books, and offering his books and limited-edition photographs for sale at the Southport Annual Holiday Bazaar. This event will feature several high-quality artists, and will be held for one day only, on Saturday, November 27, 2010, in the Community Room at the City of Southport Park, which is located at 6901 Derbyshire Rd. in the southeast corner of Marion County. It is sponsored by the Greater Southport Business Alliance, and the hours will be from 10 am to 4 pm.

December 4, 2010, Indiana Historical Society, Indianapolis, IN

John Bower will be signing his seven photography books at the Annual Holiday Author Fair at the Indiana History Center of the Indiana Historical Society. He will also be giving a PowerPoint presentation about his work in the History Center's Theater at 1:00 pm during the Fair. The Author Fair will have approximately 90 authors signing their books, and will run from Noon to 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 4, 2010. The Indiana History Center (Indiana Historical Society) is located at 450 W. Ohio St. in Indianapolis, and its phone number is 317-232-3269. This year, because the museum part of the building will be open, admission is being charged for the Author Fair. However, Studio Indiana has a limited number of free passes, so if you'd like some, just let us know and we'll mail them to you (while our supply lasts).
