                                    %u2022 July 4, 1912. Aviator Max Lillie took off with a mail bag from the Athletic Aviation Meet at a baseball field in Bedford, hoping to fly to Oolitic, then on to Mitchell. But he had to return to Bedford because of high winds. Around 1,000 pieces of mail, mostly souvenir postcards, were flown.Pioneer Flights (continued)%u2022 July 31, 1912. The Experimental Aeroplane Mail Flight, with aviator Col. Paul Peck, flying a Columbia biplane, was supposed to carry a mail pouch from the fairgrounds in Connersville to Rushville about 17 miles distant, but no mail was flown due to a %u201cwrangle the aeronaut had with the Connersville persons to mail letters or cards,%u201d according to the Rushville Daily Republican.
