St. Tome and Principe, issued December 28, 1979.This stamp on this card is from a set of twelve that commemorate aviation history.The balloon is identified as John Wise%u2019s 1859 Atlantic, which remained aloft for 809 miles on a flight from St. Louis to Henderson, New York, where it crash landed during a storm. However the balloon on the stamp looks nothing like the real Atlantic.
