                                    Nuclear Weapons of the Atomic AgeKlaus Fuchs, Soviet spy (March 8, 1950 rubber-stamped on reverse), %u201cexclusive and hitherto unpublished photo%u201dFuchs generated many significant theoretical calculations relating to the first nuclear weapons produced by the Manhattan Project, and for early models of the hydrogen bomb. In January 1950, he confessed to being a Soviet spy in a British court, and was sentenced to fourteen years in prison. After serving nine years, he was released and moved to the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), where he was elected to the Academy of Sciences and became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) central committee.
