Cary donated funds for the Jessie Levering Cary Home for Children, named in memoryof his wife. The home was dedicated on November 31 of the following year. Until 1972 it was an orphanage, housing boysand girls from bad home environments. It later became a residential treatment center for adolescent boys.Mishawaka Orphan%u2019s Home%u2014%u2014Mishawaka, Indiana%u2014%u2014Established 1882Encouraged by the Women%u2019s Christian Temperance Union and the Children%u2019s aid Society, the St. Joseph CountyOrphan%u2019s Home was opened on July 10, 1882. It has gone through a variety of name changes,and is the Family & Children%u2019s Center, Inc. today.Homes and Orphanages
