Backstamped Philadelphia, PA, January 27, 1929.Addressee, Samuel Erkes, was instrumental in founding the Philadelphia Stamp Club on June 8, 1930. After being elected Secretary-Treasurer, he immediately resigned to take on the more exciting duties of the club%u2019s auctioneer, and was eventually able to auction off an average of 60 lots at each meeting.
