While Wilber Wright was born in 1867 on a farm near Millville, Indiana, he was a resident of Dayton, Ohio (where his brother Orville was born in 1871) when he and Orville made their historic flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. A Post Office was established in Millville in 1855, but was discontinued on April 30, 1928, eight months before this cover was processed. Therefore it was cancelled five miles a way in New Castle.
