Map Series1926-1927New, elongated stamps were introduced in 1926 to help postal clerks distinguish Air Mail from regular mail at a glance. They were also issued in new denominations, to comply with revised postal rates. Now for 10%u00a2, you could send a letter weighing up to one ounce, as far as 1,000 miles, with the cost being 15%u00a2 for letters traveling further.
