Given the fact that, at one time or another, there have been more than 4,000 Post Offices in Indiana, and there are now roughly 700 in the early twenty-first century, it%u2019s possible there could be Last Day Covers for more than 3,000 defunct Indiana Post Offices. But it%u2019s unlikely that anyone could compile an accurate list of covers. After all, many of the envelopes that were cancelled on a Post Office%u2019s last day of operation were likely for routine correspondence, and just as likely, were not saved. With First Day Covers, commercial cachet makers have often processed thousands of covers for each new stamp that was released. Not so with Last Day Covers. Most of them were obtained one-at-a-time by individual collectors%u2014such as Willard McPhereson. And a percentage of those have probably been tossed out by descendants. While Last Day Covers turn up on eBay occasionally, they are simply not very common. As a result, this collection of covers, as listed below, cannot be close to being comprehensive, nor could it be a representative sampling. Yet, it is still an important aspect of Indiana%u2019s philatelic history.AdamsLinn GroveAllenEdgertonFort Wayne, Waynedale BranchZanesvilleBartholomewRugbyWaymansvilleBentonFreeland ParkTempletonTempleton Sta., openingBlackfordMillgroveRollBrownElkinsvilleFruitdaleTrevlacCarrollOckleyCassLincolnClarkOttoSpeedUnderwoodClaySaline CityClintonBoylestonCylconeMoranCrawfordAltonCape SandyDeuchersDry RunFredoniaMagnoliaPilot KnobRicevilleRiddleWickliffeWyandotteDearbornCold SpringSaint LeonWeisburgYorkvilleDecaturAlertLettsSardiniaDuboisCuzcoNortonElkhartForakerFayetteAlpineEvertonFloydGalenaFountainStonebluffFranklinSouth GateFultonDelongGrass CreekGrass Creek Sta., openingGibsonJohnsonGrantSouth Marion StationSweetser, openingVeterans Administration HospitalGreeneMineralHancockMohawkMount Comfort
