Mirt was a Chicago Mason who contributed a number of articles to The Masonic Philatelist. He produced a series of cachets for First Day Covers featuring stamps that could be related to Freemasonry.This cachet was created for the U.S. Capitol National Capital Sesquicentennial stamp, which was released on November 22, 1950%u2014but is used here on the first day of issue for a different stamp, the Indiana Territorial Sesquicentennial issue.
