After the Air Mail Scandal of 1934 resulted in the cancellation of all CAM contracts, the small AM-36 route was awarded to Transcontinental & Western Air, Inc. (T&WA) the same airline that flew the CAM-34 route. On September 1, 1937, Chicago, Fort Wayne, and Dayton, OH were connected on the first segment of the route. At the same time, T&WA also inaugurated direct air-mail service between Chicago and New York and Chicago and Pittsburgh. Three months later, on December 1, South Bend was added. In 1950, T&WA changed its name to Trans World Airlines.A Transcontinental and Western Air Douglas DC-2 as shown on a Player%u2019s Cigarette card.
