The Indiana Territory Sesquicentennial stamp was produced in large 200-stamp sheets, with each having a plate serial number printed in the selvedge of its four corners. The large sheets were then cut into quarters, each of which contained 50 stamps, with one plate number in its selvedge. These were shipped to Post Offices. The stamp%u2019s initial printing went to press on June 21, 1950, and utilized plate numbers 24233, 24234. On the next day, June 22, additional stamps were printed with plate numbers 24235, 24236, 24237, and 24238. A matched set of plate-number blocks is defined as four blocks (each containingfour stamps), with the same plate number in the selvedge, but in a different corner. Thus, each block originated from a different corner of a single large 200-stamp sheet. This collection contains one matched set for each of the six different printing plates utilized. Also included, after the matched sets, are nine blocks of four (without plate numbers) that have been signed by Indiana political figures, or by dignitaries who had a role in the Indiana Territorial Sesquicentennial celebration.
