Fools%u2019 Journey574thing had gone wrong with that person%u2019s body, making them hyperreactive to things that didn%u2019t affect most people. What if, I said, we flipped that assumption around. What if the types of reactions Lynn experienced were the correct way for the body to respond? And what if there was something wrong with the people who weren%u2019t reacting? After all, most of the substances that bothered Lynn were considered toxic at high doses, and she simply reacted to very low doses. What if Lynn%u2019s system was actually smarter, more evolved, and by reacting the way it did, she stayed away from things that had an adverse effect on everyone %u2014 but all those other people didn%u2019t know were being negatively affected? Most people in advanced countries now live their entire lives breathing air that%u2019s contaminated with a chemical soup, the type of air Lynn had learned to avoid. They also routinely ate highly processed foods, which Lynn also avoided. And they drank water containing chlorine and other chemicals that our water filter removed. Because their bodies weren%u2019t hypersensitive, they didn%u2019t avoid polluted air, processed food, or contaminated water. So, could their bodies be reacting in a different way? Perhaps they were experiencing other symptoms or illnesses %u2014 and nobody noticed a connection because contaminated air, food and water were so ubiquitous. For example, research has demonstrated that there has been an increase in cancer diagnoses in younger adults. What if it%u2019s a result of all the unnatural air, food, and water that people have been exposed to since birth? Could those long-term, low level exposures that Lynn routinely avoided be contributing to the increases in asthma, obesity, mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders, Type 2 diabetes, and hypertension in young people? What if the human race wasn%u2019t designed to tolerate those long-term, low-level exposures without any consequences? After all, air, food, and water are absolutely vital for life. And if that air, food, and water are different from what our ancestors have been taking in for millennia, there would certainly have to be consequences. If everyone reacted like Lynn, and minimized their exposure to all forms of contamination, they might tend to avoid more serious illnesses %u2014 and have better overall health. In other words, maybe the people who react
