The Finest American Made View Post Cards. %u2022 The Albertype Co., Brooklyn, N.Y.The Sunflower Hotel was designed by a Mr. Langley and built in 1914 by James Millspaugh. It had 70 rooms, cost $6,887.70, and was one of the early projects spearheaded by Rev. Mabel Riffle during a long-term phase of camp expansion. It is of two-story wood-frame construction, with double-hung windows, a concrete-block foundation, and a U-shape. Covered balconies adorn the front of the first and second floors. The original siding was wood clapboard, but it was later covered with insulbrick, an asphalt shingle-like product resembling brick. A 40-room addition was erected in 1922-24 at the rear, which is of similar construction, but with the eaves 18-inches lower. The hotel is currently closed, but the camp is hopeful that it may be restored in the future.
