                                    BBBBA Century ofProgress %u25a0 Postcards %u25a0Novelty PostcardsNovelty postcards are simply examples that deviate from the norm. For example, they may be made of an unusual material such as leather, copper, aluminum, cork, silk, or coconut%u2014and wooden examples are contained in this collection, as are jigsaw-puzzle postcards. Others may be of unusual size (%u201cmidget%u201d postcards or extra large versions), or have mechanical with moving parts, or have attachments (e.g. glitter, ribbons, feathers, embroidery). The most common novelty postcards depict the humor, or political incorrectness of their era. Some were bawdy or risqu%u00e9, with characters such as vicars, large ladies and putupon husbands. Sexual innuendo and double entendre were particularly popular in that they were a way of entertaining adults without directly offending public morals or violating censorship laws.
