In 1932, the Hammond Chamber of Commerce issued cacheted covers (previous page) for the fifth anniversary of Charles Lindbergh%u2019s solo trans-Atlantic flight, but it was not a day for the Lindberg family to celebrate. In fact, it was only a week after their kidnapped baby%u2019s body had been discovered. In its July 1932 issue, the Airpost Journal noted that six other locales had also released cacheted covers that month to honor the flight. When the Calumet Stamp Club marked the flight%u2019s fiftieth anniversary in 1977, Colorano issued a cachet for the occasion (below), plus the club had its own cachets (next page) in two color variations.The Times (Munster), May 4, 1977.
