His Navy-Curtiss flying boat became the first such plane to cross the Atlantic Ocean.In philately, the term se-tenant refers to different stamps printed from the same plate and sheet and adjoin one another. This series of three such pairs celebrates the accomplishments of aviation pioneers. The first pair commemorates the 75th anniversary of Wilbur and Orville Wright%u2019s first powered flight. The second pair celebrates the work of Octave Chanute, who systematically gathered and published experimental data on heavier-than-air flight. The third pair honors Wiley Post, who made the first solo flight around the world in 1933 in his Lockheed Vega Winnie Mae.
