Nuclear Weapons of the Atomic AgeThese stamps were created by Gerry Newhouse and Ron Kaplan of Mid Coast Marketing in Columbus, Ohio. They made three versions in panes of 36 (6 x 6). (Gerry used very first design by Robert Littlehale personally and in his business, so they are not known to collectors.) The first Ron Kaplan design measured 38mm by 23mm (not including the text), and had perforations that were aligned where they crossed (below, top). The second Kaplan design was 38mm by 22mm and had perforations that were not aligned where they crossed (below, bottom). The third Kaplan design was 38mm by 25mm, and had a selfadhesive backing (next page, top). Unauthorized counterfeit copies with a self-adhesive back can also be found. They are 36mm by 25mm (2mm narrower than the legitimate self-adhesive stamps) and have a non-bold font at the bottom (next page, bottom). Some %u201cFirst Day of Non Issue%u201d covers, dated August 14, 1995, were created. Of the various atomic-bomb Protest Stamps, this design is closest to the one originally proposed by the Postal Service. The second Newhouse Protest-Stamp design by Ron Kaplan, with perforations that do not align where they cross. The text at the bottom of the stamp is slightly lower than the above version. The first Newhouse Protest-Stamp design by Ron Kaplan, with perforations that align where they cross.Newhouse/Kaplan Protest Stamp, 1995
