While working on the atomic-bomb project, Kurchatov swore not to cut his beard until the program had succeeded, but he continued to wear it (often cut into eccentric styles) for the remainder of his life. As a result, he was given the nickname \Igor Vasilyevich Kurchatov Postcard Set
