Interlibrary Loan is a service which allows a patron of one library to borrow books (or other items) from a different library. The patron makes a request at their home library, the home library requests the item, receives the item, and makes it available to the patron. The lending library will generally specify a due date, borrowing fee (if any), and overdue fee. The borrowing library is responsible for returning the item when the patron is finished with it. In this 1918 instance, the Indiana State Library is making materials available to a patron at the Kendallville Public Library.
