The library on this postcard was in the Y%u2019s fifth home in Indianapolis, a $102,560.09, four-story structure designed by Oscar D. Bohlen. Besides a library, the building boasted the city%u2019s first indoor swimming pool, and also had a large gymnasium, an auditorium, a cafeteria, several classrooms, and residential rooms. Over the years, other facilities were opened, including a learning center for unwed pregnant girls. In the 1980s, the Y offered daycare and latchkey programs for children as well as senior citizens. By the early 1990s, it had a full-time staff of 20, an annual budget of approximately $1 million, and provided activities to roughly 2,000 members in the community. Unfortunately, the YWCA in Indianapolis was disbanded in 2012.
