kitchen cabinets, I designed and embossed woodland scenes using brass foil. I also created a giant turtle wall sculpture, a four-foot hanging with little fishes inside a large fish, a three-foot sea-monster wall sculpture, and a large outdoor mobile with flying crows%u2014all from heavy-gauge copper sheets John bought at a roofing supplier. I also made an embossed carp wind vane, a garden sculpture featuring larger-than-life luna moths, and Chinese dragon panels for a small cabinet John made of sassafras wood%u2014all of copper foil. Still other projects included an outdoor hanging consisting of three bluebirds and a dogwood blossom, a four-foot fish skeleton, garden stakes of runner ducks, a frog thermometer, and a five-foot Chinese dragon%u2014all of aluminum trim material left over from our house project. Since I%u2019d become chemically sensitive, my drawings had all been monochrome, either executed in pen-and-ink or pencil. In order to work in color, we bought a new iMac computer, a Wacon drawing tablet, a Painter program, and a photoquality Epson ink-jet color printer, all just for me, which allowed me to create computer-generated art. Having this new technology has led to exciting work that I could not have made in any other way due my continuing sensitivities to paints and other art materials. Besides that, it%u2019s so easy to manipulate all the elements of any piece by instantly varying placement, size, opacity, color, intensity, shape, etc. With the odorous printer on the lower level of our house, this method of working has been perfect for me. So far, I%u2019ve mostly done quirky animals%u2014often by, once again, starting with a play on words. But sometimes I just play. I think I%u2019m still, and will always be, influenced by that humorous stretching dachshund card from so long ago.In all my art ventures%u2014no matter what they are%u2014John has encouraged, complimented, offered helpful opinions, and assisted whenever necessary.
