Even the Judge was found in contempt of court, and sentenced to a dunking.Rosalyn Watson, an Indiana University student, was crowned Miss Indiana Territory on Saturday evening. She was flanked by 10 runners-up. After the ceremony, there was a presentation of the Indiana Cavalcade. Described as a %u201cThrilling Dramatic Spectacle,%u201d it told the history of Vincennes in 21 separate %u201cepisodes.%u201d They included square dancing, folk dancing, a Civil War ballet, some comedy, and a %u201cprecision drill a la the Rockettes.%u201d The finale featured the entire cast of over 400 performers revolving a giant %u201cWheel of Progress.%u201d Then the Star Spangled Banner was sung by all, followed by the longawaited display of fireworks. On each of the following three nights, the impressive Cavalcade was repeated.On Sunday, the hours were filled with religious commemorations, including a national radio program%u2014%u201cThe Lutheran Hour%u201d%u2014broadcast from the George Rogers Clark Memorial. There was also a solemn pontifical High Mass in the Old Cathedral. At Gregg Park, the Vincennes Ministerial Association held evening Vespers, followed by a concert by the Vincennes Municipal Band.Monday%u2019s high point was a children%u2019s pet and costume parade that included dogs, cats, snakes, turtles, and ducks. A raccoon garnered the %u201cmost novel pet%u201d prize. A red pig with a blue ribbon around its neck was said to be the raccoon%u2019s closest competition. A young lady named Patty Alsop won the Prettiest Girl contest. On Monday night there was a downpour, which dampened the enthusiasm of the citizenry.Tuesday the 4th was the actual Sesquicentennial anniversary date, and it drew a huge crowd, estimated at 75,000. In the morning, a special Mass took place at the Old Cathedral with Indianapolis Archbishop Paul C. Schulte officiating. Afterward, there was a luncheon for 200 dignitaries. The political luminaries attending included Indiana Governor Henry Schricker, U.S. Senator Homer Capehart, Illinois Governor Adlai Stevenson, and Richard Walsh representing Wisconsin%u2019s Governor. The Assistant Postmaster General, Walter Myers, was also on hand, as well
