Signed by John Bernard Cogan, who presided over the release of the Indiana Territory Sesquicentennial stamp for the U.S. Post Office Department. He was appointed Postmaster of Vincennes on May 13, 1943, and served until his death in 1960, at the age of 67. Prior to working for the Post Office, he was a beer distributor. In 1951, he was named Knox County Chairman of the local branch of the Crusade for Freedom campaign. He was given the goal of raising $1,850 to help the nation suppress the advances of communism.Signed by the Right Reverend Monsignor Paul A. Deery, who was both Vicar General of the Evansville Diocese, and pastor of the Old Cathedral at Vincennes. After studying for the priesthood at St. Meinrad, he was ordained in 1919. He first served as a pastor in Bedford, then in Bloomington. His last assignment was to Vincennes in 1938. For a quarter century he served as Chaplain of the Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus. Deery was chosen to deliver the Invocation at the Indiana Territory Sesquicentennial celebration. He died in 1964, at the age of 69, and was buried in the Priest%u2019s Circle at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Vincennes.
