Inaugural Airline Service%u2014%u2014July 1, 1945%u2014%u2014Terre Haute to St, Paul, MN.%u2014%u2014 Transcontinental & Western Air, Inc.Beginning in 1926, Terre Haute was served by Dresser Field (which was renamed Paul Cox Field in 1933). In 1928, CAM-30 was inaugurated by Interstate Airlines, Inc. to provide airmail service there. After 1934, air-mail service was provided by Transcontinental and Western Air, Inc., through AM-2. In 1943, the airport was rejected for proposed transcontinental service by the federal government because it wasn%u2019t large enough. As a result, Hulman Field was built, and it was dedicated on October 3, 1944. This cover marks the first airline service by Transcontinental & Western Air, Inc. at Hulman Field on July 1, 1945. A little over two years later, on November 1, 1947, Chicago & Southern Air Lines brought air-mail service to Hulman Field with AM-8.The two cards on the next page were enclosed inside this cover.
