It was first called the Cassadaga Lake Free Association, but the name was changed to The City of Light in 1903, and finally to Lily Dale Assembly in 1906. Lily Dale has thrived into the 21st century, and boasts 160 private residences, two hotels, guest houses, bookstores, and eateries. A large population of Spiritualists continues to reside there, including television medium Lisa Williams.The Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp was founded in Florida in 1875 by George P. Colby after his spirit guide told him to visit that state. The camp continues to prosper in the 21st century, with a hotel, an auditorium, a memorial temple, a library, a healing center, a bookstore, a welcome center, and an educational building which is used for musical performances and gatherings. In 1991, the 57-acre Cassadaga camp was declared a U.S. Historic District.
