This European-style grotto was built about 1930 of river rock as a site for spiritual meditation and religious devotion. It is fully exposed on one side, with the other three sides backfilled with soil to give the structure a cavelike appearance. Devotees can pray and light devotion candles in the structure, which is adorned with altars and statues of Jesus and several angels. The grotto was enlarged with the addition of the Sarah Jane King Meditation Room in 1955, thanks to a donation of nearly $5,000 by Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin King in memory of their daughter. These black-and-white post cards that are on uncoated stock were printed prior to the addition. The Finest American Made View Post Cards. %u2022 The Albertype Co., Brooklyn, N.Y.
