                                    A Century of Progress %u2022 Vintage PostcardsExhibitor & Concessionaire PostcardsFoochow Lacquer Ware Exhibits, Chinese Building, D-3092This Picture Shows Beautiful Exhibits of Genuine Foochow Lacquer Wart made by Fukien Children%u2019s Home in the Chinese Building at A Century of Progress Exposition, Chicago.Fukien Children%u2019s Home was founded in 1923 in Foochow, by H.F. Tung and Y.L. Cheng, two young Chinese students. The Home had only 4 students when it was first founded and today the enrollment runs more than 300, ranging in age from 7 to 19 years. They are taught along the principle of Productive Education.The Lacquer Dept. had manufactured especially for A Century of Progress Exposition the following groups of exhibits: (!) Historical Statues, such as the ten great men of China, from Huang-Ti, the emperor to Sun Yat Sen, the first President of China. (2) Art Objects, such as lacquer screens of classic designs, hand carved teakwood screens with stories dated back to Confucius%u2019 time,, Oriental Beauty, Spirit of Flowers, etc. (3) Daily Utility Articles, such as nested tables, trays, boxes, desk sets, tea sets, flower vases, etc.The Provincial Government of Fukien has awarded the honor to Fukien Children%u2019s Home for its exhibits of merits and appointed H.F Tung as chief delegate to the Century of Progress Expositions.
