41Stairway (Cloverdale Hardware Store), Cloverdale%u2014Putnam Co. (491-09)(Above) Founded in 1887, the Cloverdale Hardware Store is the oldest continuously operating hardware store in Indiana. Because the second floor is off-limits to the public, the stairway has become a display area.(Left) The New Amsterdam General Store%u2019s upper level was once the meeting room for the local chapter of the International Order of Odd Fellows, and lodge symbols are still visible on the wallpaper. Today, this space is home to several large floor looms, as well as a selection of weaving and craft supplies. The building was erected in 1886.
